I want to make you aware of a special project being done by the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) in partnership with Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful for the International Coastal Cleanup. It is called the #152andYou Challenge and is based on a Keep America Beautiful Litter Study that if every individual were to pick up 152 pieces of litter there would be no more litter – if, of course, nobody litters again!
Therefore, as part of the International Coastal Cleanup, we are challenging Palm Beach County residents that prefer to work individually, with their families, or in small groups to participate in the Challenge and pick up at least 152 pieces of litter tracking their effort with the Clean Swell app OR a paper data card. They can cleanup at any location of their choice including beaches, parks, neighborhoods, etc. This would be an alternative to attending an in-person large group cleanup at your location. It is also an opportunity for students, or those that need community service, to obtain up to 3 community service hours for the effort.
SWA will be hosting this challenge from the official ICC date of September 18 through November 19. Individuals should register at https://www.swa.org/717/152andYou-Challenge Cleanup kits including t-shirts (while supplies last) will be available for pickup by registered participants.
This video is for anyone that can’t make it to the cleanup location on September 18, but still wants to participate and be part of the ICC through this Challenge.
