A New Purpose for Your Purse
When this activity came to our attention, it was something that Lois Spatz had posted on facebook. The originator of this idea is Turner & Pooch Co., an online shop for economic & social justice clothing.
Sharing these posts is exactly what’s needed to better society overall, to make the world a little kinder. And it may not seem much of a contribution to like a post enough to share someone’s good idea. But in fact it’s huge.
Of course by posting these inspirations, it will prompt others to act. Sharing such posts will also serve as an education for a different group of people, even if they won’t participate. And it will cause yet others to share the original post as well, so it reaches a broader audience.
|The original facebook post by Turner & Pooch Co.:
What’s really nice about the power of the internet, is that all positive ideas get multiplied exponentially. And many people may find a particular idea attractive enough to want to pitch in, even when somewhere, somebody else is already doing it. There is no competition when doing good.
Give it a try – you may really enjoy helping this way.
|As easy as 1-2-3 for you!|
|Here’s what you can do:
1) Find a purse that you will not use and fill it with necessities.
2) Take a photo before you donate your purse, then take it to the recipient. If at all possible, take a picture when you hand it over, or after they received it.
3) Upload your images here >>
Important, please read:
Before you hand someone a purse, please make sure that it is actually a welcome gift. Some people who find themselves in a difficult situation may not want a handout, or they may feel embarrassed.
Do not approach people randomly unless you’re sure they don’t mind being approached. Consider their privacy. If you’re not sure, donate your purses to a shelter or an organization that helps the homeless and is familiar with their needs.
Only use fresh products as stuffers that are clean and unused. Keep in mind that full size products are not always practical. Use your good judgment.
