Day 18: Dance Makes Everything Easier!

Even During a Quarantine.
Especially during quarantine.
I found myself turning to the music channel and dance my heart out. I never get to do that anymore outside of this ‘Stay-at-Home’ time, simply for the lack of spare time.
Life’s so busy, that I sometimes forget the things that bring me joy.

That needs to change!

Ahhh… the Joy of the Movement!!
I mean, what more pleasure can you get for FREE that you can do by yourself, at home, where nobody can laugh at your goofy moves! Dance like a child, or go Disco, or stick with classic moves.

Doesn’t matter what you prefer.
Dance brings us pleasure for the same reason that we go on amusement park rides.
It is the movement itself that triggers a feeling of elation, even satisfaction. It seems to reach a zone of comfort inside of us, often the faster the better.
Remember how you would love to be swung around by someone, when you were little? Or zooming down that slide? Riding a carousel or a seesaw? It’s that very same feeling of enhanced speed and controlled movement.

Dancing makes use of that same sense of pleasure. Has done that for Millennia.
Every culture, every epoch has developed their own particular style of dancing, for various occasions. Dance is an expression of joy, of desire, exuberance, or it can be a catalyst for falling in love.
Pure joie-de-vivre. That means, you’re in good company when you let loose of inhibitions and just dance to your hearts desire.

How Can You NOT Want to Dance?
Look at all the benefits:
  • dancing burns calories, so it helps with weight loss
  • it stokes your creativity – you can invent your own style
  • it makes you feel good, because of the movement
  • it lets you enjoy music
  • it gets you to be more active, and that’s good all around
  • it makes you feel free, because you’re in control of your moves
I have rediscovered the joy that comes with it, and I hope you will too. And who knows, maybe you like it enough to enroll in a formal course. There are many good dance schools around. Find one!
