Day 17: Use This Time to Purge!

Lighten Your Load – You’ll Breathe Easier
Oh, yes, yes, YES!! Just think of all the work you don’t have to do: no more moving things from one end of the house to the other, all in the HOPES that you MAY need one of them someday. (Which will never come, by the way).
Sooo… what better way than to give your stuff new life? Donate it to those who can make use of it!
How Much Do You Really Need?
Most of us have too much of everything, myself included.
What I found is, that the less ‘things’ we surround ourselves with, the happier we are. Provided of course, that our basic needs are met.
Too many belongings will create a special type of anxiety.
I know, shopping is such a quick fix for mild depression, but it’s also very temporary. Worse yet, it downright can lead to addiction.
A sneaky cycle…
After getting each new item, we enjoy it for a while until its novelty wears off. Big deal, let’s go and get more!
It’s just too easy to repeat the good feeling. We go and get more. And the easy access to more stuff doesn’t help – we don’t even have to leave our house to shop for goods!
Trouble is, we are reluctant to get rid of the older stuff, because we remember how happy it made us in the past.
I am speaking for myself
I have felt enough of the elation after acquiring each new item to any one of my collections. They made me happy, the let me forget about real life out there, and they always allowed me to keep dreaming inside my own little bubble.
I am guilty.
But the more we focus on THINGS, the less we pay attention to PEOPLE and their emotional needs.
It’s worth to have a more in-depth look at this, but I’ll bring it up another time. For now, let’s stay on top of it and gain control.
Let’s purge.
What Better Time to Do it Than Now!
Coronavirus buys us more time to do these tasks that we put off for a rainy day.
Well, right now IS a rainy day. A very long one.
Free yourself! Sell your excess stuff, or better yet: give it away!
If you have explored all ‘Be More!’ Initiatives a little bit, you’ve come across ‘Jeffro’s Kids Funnel’ and ‘Sergio’s Lent Exchange’. Both are activities that will benefit local charities. If you live nowhere close to Palm Beach County, you can certainly find a good charity that will accept your donations!
